As “an ugly testament of the alarming level of misery, poverty, hunger, starvation, sense of hopelessness, and desperation for survival currently plaguing our nation under the overtly insensitive, corrupt, and rudderless Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government,” the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has characterized the tragic food stampedes that have occurred in parts of the country.

“This terrible state of affairs in the nation further demonstrates that the APC is a group of ‘political vampires and buccaneers’ that have absolutely no respect for human life and instead take great joy in the misery and death of residents, including defenseless children.”As the main goal of government is to alleviate suffering and enhance the welfare of the masses, our party maintains that any administration that is sensitive and concerned about the people would have implemented intervention programs long ago.

“The PDP calls for the immediate review of all the oppressive economic and tax policies of the APC administration that are causing daily suffering and death to Nigerians for the umpteenth time,” the statement read.

The party expressed sympathy for Oyo State’s residents and Governor Seyi Makinde.
