The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects and recovered two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms and 25 Automated Teller Machine cards during a series of operations conducted across the state.

The command said the operations were carried out between September 16 and September 26 as part of efforts to tackle criminal activities through intelligence gathering, targeted raids and other enforcement measures.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday.

According to him, detectives attached to the Owode-Egba Division recovered a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle at Mokoloki Village on September 17 and arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged theft.

In Ijebu-Ode, police detectives also recovered a suspected stolen Safira vehicle following intelligence-led investigations, with one suspect arrested in connection with the recovery.

Babaseyi said operatives of the Olorunda Division arrested two suspects on September 19 while they were allegedly transporting stolen electrical materials along Ayetoro Road.

He added that operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics team arrested three suspects around Dalemo, Ota, on September 21 after intercepting an unregistered tricycle and motorcycle allegedly linked to a vehicle theft case.

The command also reported the arrest of two suspected cult members during a separate tactical operation. One pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols were recovered, bringing the number of firearms recovered during the operations to three.

In another operation, operatives of the Igbesa Division arrested a 45-year-old suspect over an alleged ₦2.5 million fraud case. Police said 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones were recovered from the suspect.

The police said the suspects are being investigated for the various offences and would be dealt with according to the law.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved in the operations and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist the command in preventing and investigating crime.

The commissioner assured residents that the command would continue its proactive policing efforts to strengthen security and maintain peace across Ogun State.
