Kwankwaso meets Aregbesola behind closed doors in LagosAlthough specifics of the discussion were still lacking as of the time of writing this article, a source who asked anonymity told our correspondent that the meeting focused on problems related to national politics and pairings.

The source said that “both Aregbesola and Kwankwaso discussed possible synergy aimed at promoting mutual working relationships and other critical issues affecting the polity of the country.”

Under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aregbesola, who ran Osun State between 2010 and 2018, recently withdrew his group, the Omoluabi Progressives, from the party following protracted irreconcilable differences regarding alleged ostracism, expulsion of the group leaders without a fair hearing, and failure to restructure the APC, among others.

Following his leaving from Osun APC, political parties including NNPP and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been courting Aregbesola to join them ahead of the state’s governorship poll in 2026.

The state chairman of NNPP in Osun, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, confirmed upon contacted the meeting between the former governor and Kwankwaso in Lagos State.

“The meeting which takes place at the residence of Aregbesola in Lagos reflected a shared commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and fostering national development,” Odeyemi said.

“The only third force in Nigerian political environment presently is NNPP and the party leadership will leave no stone on turn in making Nigeria great again,” he said.
