According to the statement, Tinubu’s first destination will be London, United Kingdom, where he will begin the vacation described as a working break.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria after the three-week holiday and resume his official engagements, including preparations for the January 2027 election.
Tinubu’s vacation comes about a week after Vice President Kashim Shettima returned to Nigeria following a two-week leave. Shettima resumed his official duties two days before the scheduled end of his vacation.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, had described Shettima’s break as his first vacation since he and Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023.
According to Nkwocha, the Vice President used the period for study, reflection and intellectual renewal, while also reviewing ongoing government programmes and deepening his understanding of emerging policy issues in Nigeria and internationally.
Tinubu’s departure comes as his administration continues to implement economic and governance reforms, while political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
