African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, on Sunday attended the National Thanksgiving Service of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at its headquarters in Ebute Meta, Lagos State, where he also held a private meeting with the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
Sowore said he attended the service alongside the AAC National Chairman, Pastor Samuel Ajeigbe, and later met privately with Adeboye, who he said offered prayers for him and expressed confidence in his political journey.

According to Sowore, Adeboye told him that he follows his activities and considers his path to be honourable.
“After the service, I had a private meeting and conversation with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who offered to pray for me. He stated that he follows my activities religiously, expressed certainty that my path is honorable, and said he is confident of my triumph,” Sowore said.
The AAC candidate also recalled that his latest encounter with Adeboye was their second meeting at the same venue. He said their first meeting took place in 1996, shortly after he completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, when he was involved in campaigns against campus cultism.
Sowore said his visit to the RCCG headquarters was not intended as a political campaign, while expressing appreciation for the reception he received from church members and for his private conversation with Adeboye.
Sowore Takes Swipe at Obidients
In a separate social media statement, Sowore criticised supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, popularly known as the “Obidients,” over their reaction to his activities, including his attendance at the RCCG service.
He alleged that Obi’s supporters had complained about the AAC’s recent activities, including a “one-million-revolutionaries march” in Lagos and his appearance at the RCCG.
“Those Peter Obi’s Obidients have been weeping all day. Did they not get the memo that times have changed?” Sowore said.
He further claimed that the AAC represented the “real opposition” and that Nigerians recognised his party as a consistent challenger of the political establishment.
Sowore also compared the reception he said he received at the RCCG service with that given to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, who he said were also acknowledged during the service.
According to him, the reaction to the APC officials was “cold and restrained,” while his own reception generated greater excitement.
Sowore’s comments come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition parties and their presidential hopefuls increasingly seeking to strengthen their support bases across the country.
