The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General A.B. Mahmuda, disclosed this on Independence Day during a courtesy visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, Ikú Bàbá Yèyé, at the monarch’s palace.

Mahmuda said the two new battalions would be located in Iseyin and Kishi and would operate under the control and supervision of the newly established military brigade and garrison in Oyo town.

The development is expected to expand the Nigerian Army’s presence in the Oke-Ogun area and strengthen its capacity to respond to security threats across the region.

The establishment of the formations also comes amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government and security agencies to improve security coverage and response capabilities across communities in Oyo State.
