Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu committed an impeachable offence over what he described as unauthorized deductions from the federation account.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme, El-Rufai claimed that the Tinubu administration has been deducting ₦100 billion monthly from the federation account without the approval of the National Assembly, raising serious constitutional concerns.

According to him, the alleged deductions amount to about ₦1.5 trillion, and he questioned the legality and transparency surrounding the withdrawals.
“Where has that ₦1.5 trillion gone? If ₦100 billion is being deducted monthly without legislative approval, that is clearly an impeachable offence,” El-Rufai said during the interview.
The former governor argued that the constitution clearly outlines the process for withdrawals from the federation account and insisted that any deviation undermines fiscal accountability and democratic governance.
As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency has not issued an official response to El-Rufai’s allegations. However, government officials in the past have maintained that all financial transactions under the Tinubu administration are carried out within the ambit of the law.
The allegation has sparked renewed debate over public finance management, transparency, and executive accountability at the federal level.
