The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has announced a ban on mixed seating between males and females in public transport and at social gatherings across the state. The directive is part of measures aimed at enforcing moral conduct in line with Islamic principles.

In a statement signed by the Commission’s Coordinator, Muhammad Yahudi, the Hisbah warned against interactions considered contrary to Islamic teachings. The order applies to residents and visitors alike, with transport operators and event organisers expected to ensure strict compliance.

The directive also addresses public safety concerns, specifically cautioning against reckless driving often associated with Sallah festivities and wedding celebrations. According to the Commission, such behaviour endangers lives and undermines public order.

The Hisbah Commission urged the public to cooperate with its officers, stressing that the measures are intended to promote decency, safety, and social harmony across Yobe State.
