Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has challenged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to clarify his political allegiance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Lawal said Wike, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), should join the All Progressives Congress (APC) if he intends to openly support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for another term in office.

The governor said political actors cannot simultaneously belong to opposing political camps while supporting different platforms, stressing the need for Wike to clearly state where he stands.

Lawal made the remarks during an interview with Channels Television’s Inside Sources on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. He said APC governors had made their position clear on the matter.

“Our message is very, very clear, be on one side, you can’t be on two sides,” Lawal said, while responding to questions about Wike’s reported involvement with the political coalition supporting President Tinubu.

Asked whether the governors were asking Wike to join the APC, Lawal replied, “Exactly.”

The Zamfara governor also said he would discuss Wike’s political position with President Tinubu when the President returns from his working visit to France.

“It’s something I will discuss with the President when he comes back. Let there be a clear line where this guy belongs. It’s either he is in APC or he is out, simple,” Lawal said.

Wike has remained a PDP member while serving in President Tinubu’s administration. His political activities have also been linked to the coalition of opposition politicians backing Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, a development that has generated debate over his political alignment.
