President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerian workers that their salaries and allowances will improve in the coming months as his administration’s economic reforms begin to deliver positive results.

The President gave the assurance on Thursday during the commissioning of the newly rebuilt Premier Hotel in Ibadan, Oyo State. He was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tinubu said the economic policies introduced by his administration over the past three years were beginning to produce the desired outcomes, adding that Nigerians would soon experience improvements in their standard of living.

“I can only promise you that your salaries and allowances will improve,” the President declared, expressing optimism that the benefits of ongoing reforms would become more evident across different sectors of the economy.

According to him, the country’s economy has started responding positively to the difficult but necessary decisions taken by his administration, noting that the sacrifices made by Nigerians were gradually yielding tangible benefits.

“The economy has kicked into gear, and the benefits of all the sacrifices we have made as a people over the last three years have already begun to accumulate,” he said.

Tinubu also highlighted the significance of the renovated Premier Hotel, describing it as a symbol of preserving Nigeria’s rich heritage while creating new opportunities for economic growth. He commended the vision of the leaders of the old Western Region who established the hotel and praised contemporary leaders for restoring the facility to modern standards.

He stressed that national heritage should be protected and upgraded rather than abandoned, saying legacy assets must continue to serve future generations.

“Heritage should not merely be remembered; it should be preserved, strengthened and passed on from one generation to another,” he stated.

The President further applauded the six shareholder states of Odu’a Investment Company—Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti and Lagos—for their commitment to revitalising one of the South-West’s historic investments.

He noted that the successful redevelopment of the hotel demonstrated the value of strategic partnerships between government and the private sector in driving sustainable economic development.

“What we are witnessing here today is a triumph of good governance, public-private sector collaboration and strategic partnerships,” Tinubu said.

The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s hospitality, tourism, arts, culture and creative industries through targeted programmes under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He explained that the initiatives were designed to boost the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), increase foreign exchange earnings and generate employment opportunities for millions of Nigerians.

Tinubu also assured local and foreign investors that the Federal Government would continue implementing policies aimed at improving infrastructure, encouraging domestic tourism and attracting more private sector investments into the tourism value chain.

Calling on Nigerians to take advantage of emerging economic opportunities, the President described the current period as a turning point in the nation’s economic journey.

“I beckon on us all to take advantage of the beginnings of our economic transformation as a nation to invest in Project Nigeria, and I can assure you that you will be very glad you did,” he said.

He concluded by describing the transformation of Premier Hotel as a practical example of how strategic investments and effective partnerships could preserve national heritage, stimulate economic activities and unlock long-term development opportunities across the country.
