In Ogun State, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has said that 1,000 cataract extraction surgeries will be provided for free by its foundation.

In an effort to improve lives and restore sight, the state-owned oil corporation announced the project in a tweet on Monday.

From January 6–12, 2025, the free cataract procedures will be offered as part of NNPCL’s continuous initiatives to promote healthcare in nearby communities. Likosi Health Centre, Mosimi (Ijebu, Sagamu, Simawa, Ogijo, Ikorodu), FMC, Ijoga (Ogun West, Rep. of Benin, etc.), FMC, Abeokuta (Ogun Central, North, South, etc.), and FMC, Ajebo (Ajebo, Ogunmakin, Ibadan, etc.) are the surgical locations.
