The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has openly criticized Abba Moro over the approach to reconciliation within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike made the remarks on Wednesday night in Abuja during the 106th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting organized by a faction of the party led by Abdulrahman Mohammed.
The former Rivers State governor used the platform to challenge party leaders advocating reconciliation, urging them to be transparent about their intentions and present clear proposals instead of what he described as secret negotiations.
His comments come amid ongoing tensions within the PDP as various factions attempt to resolve internal disputes affecting the party’s leadership and direction.

Addressing the gathering, Wike specifically called out Moro, asking him to present concrete proposals if he truly seeks reconciliation within the party.
According to the FCT minister, reconciliation should be conducted openly rather than through private meetings and undisclosed negotiations.
“Minority leader, when you are talking about reconciliation, come with your terms of reconciliation so that we will know. Concrete proposal,” Wike said.
He further criticized what he described as behind-the-scenes political manoeuvres, adding that he dislikes leaders who negotiate privately and later present themselves publicly as advocates for peace.
“I don’t like those who go to negotiate at night and come out to shout in the day. Let those coming for peace come in the daytime and not at nighttime,” he added.
The remarks were made during a meeting of Wike’s faction of the PDP, which has been involved in an ongoing internal battle over control of the party’s structure and leadership.
Wike insisted that his faction remains firmly in control of the party’s machinery, expressing confidence in their position following a recent court decision.
The statement comes after a ruling by the Court of Appeal Nigeria, which affirmed the current caretaker leadership structure associated with his faction.
Despite the internal disagreements, Wike maintained that the PDP remains a strong political force and will survive its current challenges.
“PDP will never die. There comes a time that you have crises, but those crises help you to put yourself in order,” he stated.
Rejection of New Caretaker Committee
The FCT minister also addressed plans for the party’s upcoming national convention, insisting that preparations are already well advanced.
According to him, the party leadership has completed key logistical arrangements for the event, including securing the venue and paying the required fees.
He firmly rejected suggestions from some members proposing the formation of a new caretaker committee as part of reconciliation efforts.
“The party is working hard for the convention to hold. They have paid the necessary fees. They have secured the venue,” he said.
Wike stressed that the convention must proceed as planned and that all members of the party will be allowed to participate.
Response to Allegations of Political Loyalty
Wike also responded to accusations that his position in the administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) makes him a “mole” within the PDP.
He dismissed the claims, noting that many of those who previously accused him of disloyalty have since defected to the APC themselves.
According to him, despite serving in an APC-led administration, he has remained a member of the PDP.
As the internal dispute continues, political observers believe the coming months—particularly the planned national convention—will play a significant role in determining the future unity and leadership structure of the party.
