Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has warned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against engaging in anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Aiyedatiwa said his administration would not tolerate actions capable of weakening the party or affecting its electoral prospects during the forthcoming elections.

The governor issued the warning on Thursday during the inauguration of the Ondo State chapter of the City Boy Movement, a political support group focused on mobilising grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Represented at the event by the Ondo State APC Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, Aiyedatiwa urged members of the movement and other party supporters to expand their activities beyond the state capital and establish a strong presence across the 18 local government areas.

According to the governor, party members should work within their wards and polling units to mobilise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates contesting the 2027 elections.

He reiterated what he described as the administration’s zero-tolerance position toward anti-party activities, stressing that members should remain committed to the party’s electoral objectives.

“Permit me to use this opportunity to reiterate for the umpteenth time our zero tolerance for anti-party activities. These will not be tolerated under any guise,” the governor said.

He further encouraged members to take their campaign activities directly to communities and engage voters at the grassroots.

“Let your members go into your various wards and units and canvass massively for Mr. President,” Aiyedatiwa said.

The governor also called for support for APC candidates across the different levels of the 2027 elections, including the presidential, National Assembly and State House of Assembly contests.

Aiyedatiwa Calls for Grassroots Mobilisation

Aiyedatiwa commended the leadership of the City Boy Movement for creating a platform through which young people could participate in political activities.

He particularly acknowledged the group’s Grand Patron, Seyi Tinubu, while encouraging its members to intensify their mobilisation efforts throughout Ondo State.

The inauguration comes as political parties and support groups begin preparations for the 2027 electoral cycle, with grassroots structures expected to play a role in voter engagement and campaign activities.

Speaking at the event, the Ondo State Director of the City Boy Movement, Oluwafemi Ayejusunle, said the organisation’s immediate priority was to consolidate its structure from the state level down to individual grassroots units.

Ayejusunle explained that the movement had adopted a unit-based structure designed to facilitate direct mobilisation and communication with communities.

“We have three people per unit, and we are consolidating our structure to ensure that our mandate is met. And our mandate is to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

He added that the movement planned to take its activities to different sections of society as part of its mobilisation strategy.

According to Ayejusunle, youths, women, market communities, students on campuses and residents across different communities would be among the groups targeted by the organisation’s outreach activities.

He said the movement would also use its grassroots structure to promote the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and communicate its message to supporters across the state.

The City Boy Movement’s Ondo chapter is therefore expected to focus on expanding its network and increasing its presence at ward and unit levels as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.

Aiyedatiwa’s warning, meanwhile, places party discipline and loyalty among the issues being emphasised as the APC begins its preparations for the next electoral cycle in Ondo State.
