During the attack, the assailants reportedly looted large quantities of food items and other valuables worth millions of naira before setting parts of the market ablaze, destroying stalls and goods.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies were yet to issue an official statement, while residents called on the Niger State Government to urgently reinforce security in Borgu and surrounding communities to prevent further attacks.
