The Osun African Democratic Congress Gubernatorial Campaign Council (ADC-GCC) is deeply concerned about the current failures being experienced on the Lameco Flyover in Osogbo barely weeks after its commissioning.

What we are witnessing is a clear sign that politics and optics have overtaken professionalism in the delivery of a critical public infrastructure. A flyover is a structural asset that carries thousands of lives daily. It must be guided by science, standards, and engineering integrity and not by party or political sensationalism.

Following reports of failure and damages observed on the flyover, we believes that now is the time to allow professionalism to take over. We must depoliticize this matter and subject the structure to rigorous, independent technical scrutiny in the interest of public safety.

To achieve this, we recommend that an independent body immediately carry out the required tests and assessments on the Lameco Flyover. These should include the
Structural Integrity Test that will the reveal the load capacity analysis, deflection test, and vibration assessment to determine if the flyover can safely carry designed traffic loads. Also, the material Quality Test that will reveal the concrete strength test, steel reinforcement test, and asphalt quality check to confirm compliance with approved specifications. The assessment should further include drainage and Expansion Joint Audit in order to check for design flaws that can lead to water accumulation and premature deterioration.

Also, comparison of actual construction with approved engineering drawings and BOQ should be ascertained.

In light of this and interest of public safety, we hereby
request the Osun State Chapter of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, (NSE), the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, (COREN)
The Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers (NISTructE) and other relevant professional bodies
to constitute an independent panel to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the Lameco flyover and submit a public report with recommendations.

The government must grant them full access to project documents, site, and contractors without interference.

Osun people deserve infrastructure that is safe, durable, and built to standard. We cannot afford another collapse or avoidable tragedy because we chose politics over professionalism.

We in the ADC stands ready to support any effort aimed at protecting lives and ensuring accountability.
