The political landscape in Osun State is gradually taking shape ahead of the 2026 governorship election, as Governor Ademola Adeleke announced a comprehensive 52-member campaign council to steer his re-election bid.

The newly constituted council reflects a strategic effort to consolidate political structures across the state, with seasoned party figures and grassroots mobilisers playing key roles. At the helm of the campaign council is Wale Oladipo, who has been appointed chairman to oversee the entire operation.

According to an official statement released in Osogbo, the campaign machinery is designed to ensure efficiency, coordination, and inclusiveness at all levels of political engagement.

A central feature of the campaign council is the appointment of Lere Oyewumi as Director General, a role that places him in charge of coordinating the overall campaign strategy. Supporting him is Kolapo Alimi, who will serve as Deputy Director General.

The communication arm of the campaign will be handled by Pelumi Olajengbesi as spokesperson, while Bola Ajao takes on the role of secretary.

Further strengthening the structure, Bamidele Salam has been tasked with leading the Media and Publicity Committee, while Moshood Adeoti will oversee Inter-Party Relations. These appointments highlight a deliberate approach to managing both public communication and political alliances.

The campaign council is supported by 29 standing sub-committees, each assigned to handle specific operational areas. This layered structure is intended to ensure that no aspect of the campaign is left unattended.

To ensure widespread mobilisation, the campaign framework will be replicated across all nine federal constituencies through the Imole Federal Constituency Campaign Committees. This approach aims to extend the campaign’s reach beyond the state capital into every corner of Osun.

At the grassroots level, Imole Local Government Campaign Committees will operate in all 30 local government areas, including the area office. These local units will bring together party executives, elected officials, and community influencers to drive engagement and voter outreach.

The emphasis on grassroots participation reflects a broader strategy to build strong local connections, a factor often considered critical in Nigerian elections.
