Aiyedatiwa Commends Court Sentence On Owo Church Attack Convicts

Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has commended the judiciary and security agencies for securing the conviction and death sentence of four suspects involved in the June 5, 2022 terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo.

Governor Aiyedatiwa described the court’s verdict as a triumph for justice, the rule of law, and the victims of the tragic attack, which claimed the lives of several worshippers and left many others with life threatening injuries.

This was contained in a statement from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.

He praised the diligence of the prosecution team, the professionalism of investigators, and the courage displayed by the judiciary in ensuring that justice was served.

According to the Governor, the judgment sends a strong message that the government will not tolerate acts of terrorism or violence against innocent citizens.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also commended the resilience of the people of Owo and the Catholic community for remaining peaceful despite the trauma of the attack.

While noting that no judgment can restore lost lives , the governor was delighted that the verdict offered a measure of closure to the affected families and renewed hope in the justice system.
