OSOGBO — The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State chapter, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has donated additional operational vehicles to security agencies in the state as part of efforts to strengthen the security architecture across local communities.

The vehicles were presented at the State Police Headquarters in Osogbo on Saturday, in an event witnessed by Newsworld Reporter.

Speaking at the event, the ALGON Chairman, Samuel Idowu, on behalf of other council officials, restated the association’s collective commitment to strengthening security, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing public safety within communities.

“Just a few weeks ago, we were here to unveil the distribution of the patrol vehicles, and I am glad to inform this gathering that the remaining vehicles are here for distribution, aimed at strengthening security and the maintenance of law and order in the state. This is indeed a promise made, a promise kept,” Idowu said.

He noted that security remains the bedrock of any meaningful development anywhere in the world, stressing that without peace and stability, no society can thrive and no government can achieve its developmental goals.

“We understand the peculiar security challenges within our communities, and we are determined to support all necessary efforts to address them effectively,” he stated while donating the vehicles.

Idowu added that the success of the initiative is a direct product of the growing autonomy of local governments, and commended the dedication and sacrifices of security personnel across the state.

With the state governorship election approaching, the ALGON chairman urged residents to support security agencies in restoring peace in Osun and warned politicians against resorting to violence.

Responding on behalf of the benefiting security agencies, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, commended ALGON for the donation, describing security as “a shared responsibility,” and noting that such gestures reflect confidence in the ability of security agencies to continue delivering effective service to the people.

“These operational vehicles will significantly improve mobility, response time, patrol coverage, intelligence-led operations, and inter-agency collaboration in combating crime and maintaining public order,” Gotan said.

He further assured members of the public that the vehicles would be deployed judiciously, properly maintained, and used strictly for their intended security purpose — safeguarding lives and property and ensuring peace across Osun State.
