According to the continental football governing body, interested countries must meet strict hosting requirements covering stadium facilities, accommodation, transportation, security, medical services and overall tournament infrastructure. Candidate nations are also expected to demonstrate strong government support and financial capacity to organize the competition.

CAF stated that comprehensive bidding documents outlining the technical, legal and commercial requirements would be made available to interested member associations. The governing body added that the selection process would include inspections, evaluations and presentations before a final decision is reached.

CAF Begins Competitive AFCON Hosting Race

Opening the bidding several years ahead of each tournament is expected to give prospective hosts sufficient time to prepare their proposals and execute major infrastructure projects where necessary. It also provides CAF with adequate time to assess each bid and ensure selected hosts can meet international standards.

The Africa Cup of Nations remains Africa’s premier football competition, attracting millions of viewers across the globe and generating significant economic benefits for host countries through tourism, investment, job creation and improved sporting infrastructure.

Countries interested in hosting any of the three editions are expected to work closely with their respective governments to prepare competitive bids that align with CAF’s requirements and long-term vision for African football.

CAF is expected to announce key timelines for bid submissions, inspection visits and final host selection as the process progresses. The successful host nations will be tasked with delivering world-class tournaments that showcase African football while promoting economic growth and regional development.

The opening of the bidding process signals another important milestone for African football as CAF continues its efforts to strengthen the prestige, competitiveness and global appeal of the Africa Cup of Nations.
