A court has nullified the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Ibadan, Oyo State, declaring the exercise invalid. The ruling followed a suit challenging the legality of the convention and the processes that led to its conduct.

In its judgment, the court held that the convention did not comply with the party’s constitution and relevant guidelines, thereby rendering the decisions and outcomes from the gathering void. It consequently set aside all resolutions reached at the Ibadan convention.

The court further directed the PDP to take necessary steps in line with its constitution, including conducting a fresh convention that complies with due process. The ruling is expected to have significant implications for the party’s internal affairs and leadership structure.
