According to him, house officers will also benefit from the new structure, with their earnings now exceeding ₦350,000, up from just over ₦250,000 previously. In addition, the state government has introduced a ₦100,000 tax-free allowance specifically for house officers.
The allowance, known as the MORE Special Allowance, is designed to further support young medical professionals and encourage retention within the state’s healthcare sector.
The salary increase is expected to boost morale among doctors and may help address the ongoing challenge of brain drain in the medical profession across Nigeria.
