The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been concluded ahead of the exercise. Both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials have been distributed, while two Supervising National Electoral Commissioners have been deployed to oversee the conduct of the poll.

Fourteen political parties are participating in the governorship contest, reflecting a broad range of political interests and giving voters multiple options at the ballot box.

To enhance transparency and credibility, INEC has accredited approximately 100 local election observers and two foreign observers who are already present in the state to monitor the electoral process.

Electoral officials have repeatedly emphasized their commitment to ensuring that every eligible voter is given the opportunity to vote in a peaceful and secure environment.

At a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ado Ekiti, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, appealed to political leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders to support efforts aimed at ensuring a hitch-free election.

He stressed the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders in maintaining peace before, during, and after the voting process.

Security agencies have also intensified preparations to safeguard the election. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed more than 10,000 personnel drawn from neighboring states to reinforce security arrangements across Ekiti.

Officials said the deployment is designed to protect polling units, public facilities, critical national assets, and other strategic locations throughout the election period.

Speaking on election security, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Election Planning and Evaluation, Mr. Abayomi Sogunle, warned against the unauthorized announcement of election results.

He stated that only INEC has the legal authority to declare election outcomes and cautioned that anyone found violating this provision would face arrest and prosecution.

Sogunle further assured the public that adequate security measures had been put in place for electoral officials, ad hoc staff, National Youth Service Corps members participating in the exercise, and other personnel involved in the election.

Similarly, the spokesperson for the NSCDC in Ekiti State, Mr. Tolu Afolabi, reiterated the corps’ commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the process.

He explained that officers would remain vigilant across polling locations and strategic public facilities to ensure the safety of voters and election workers.

As voters prepare to head to the polls, security agencies have urged residents to conduct themselves peacefully and perform their civic responsibilities without fear or intimidation.

With electoral materials distributed, observers deployed, and security arrangements strengthened, expectations remain high that Ekiti State will witness a peaceful, credible, and successful governorship election.
