A tragic incident has thrown a family into mourning in , as a father, Mr. Rufus Farotimi, calls for justice following the death of his 21-year-old son and the destruction of his residence by a truck.

The incident, which occurred on March 26, involved a heavy-duty truck that reportedly veered off the road and rammed into the Farotimi family home, killing the victim, identified as Promise Farotimi, on the spot.

The deceased was said to be asleep at the time of the crash.

Promise, a 300-level student of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti,m (FUOYE), was described by family members as hardworking and full of promise before his life was abruptly cut short.

Speaking amid grief, Mr. Farotimi lamented the devastating impact of the incident, noting that he has not only lost his son but also his home.

“I have lost everything. My son is gone, and the house I built has been destroyed. We are now left without shelter,” he said.

According to reports, the truck driver fled the scene shortly after the crash. However, his assistant was apprehended by residents, and documents recovered at the scene identified the driver as one Shuaibu Yusuf.

The bereaved father has appealed to security agencies to ensure the suspect is brought to justice.

He also called on the Dangote company owner of the truck to accept responsibility and provide compensation for the loss suffered by his family.

Residents and community leaders in the area have attributed the incident to reckless driving and the poor condition of the road, urging relevant authorities to take urgent steps to prevent a recurrence.

Meanwhile, the police have confirmed that the case is under investigation, with efforts ongoing to track down the fleeing driver.
