A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to a total of 75 years imprisonment after finding him guilty of fraud and money laundering involving about ₦33.8 billion.
Justice James Omotosho convicted Mamman on all 12 counts filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The charges were linked to the alleged diversion of public funds meant for the Mambilla and Zungeru Hydroelectric Power projects during his time in office under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the judgment, the former minister received seven-year prison terms on 10 counts, while he got additional sentences of three years and two years on separate counts. The court ordered that the sentences run consecutively, leading to a cumulative 75-year jail term.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of recovered foreign currencies and several Abuja properties linked to the convict.
Justice Omotosho ruled that the prosecution presented overwhelming evidence proving Mamman illegally diverted funds through Bureau de Change operators who allegedly converted the money into foreign currencies before transferring it to him.
The court further found him guilty of making a cash payment of $655,700, equivalent to about ₦200 million, for a property in Abuja without using a financial institution, contrary to anti-money laundering regulations.
Mamman had earlier been convicted on May 7, 2026, before the sentencing phase was concluded on Tuesday.
