Fubara Denies APC Exit Rumours, Reaffirms Loyalty To Ruling Party

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed reports suggesting that he has left the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that he remains fully committed to the ruling party. The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed reports suggesting that he has left the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that he remains fully committed to the ruling party.

Fubara made the clarification on Wednesday while inspecting the reconstructed Rivers State Psychiatric Hospital, which has now been converted into a general hospital in Rumuigbo.

The governor said speculations circulating on social media about his political affiliation were false and based on misinterpretations by political observers.

“I’m a member of the All Progressives Congress, and nothing has changed. People should stop using whatever situation they pick up from social media or their personal interpretation to present me wrongly. I have not gone anywhere. I remain a member of the APC,” he stated.

Speaking on the newly remodelled healthcare facility, Fubara explained that the decision to transform the former psychiatric hospital into a general hospital was driven by the need to improve healthcare access for residents in the area.

According to him, the government discovered during earlier inspections that communities around Rumuigbo lacked nearby major medical facilities.

He noted that many residents had to rely on the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, which he described as too distant for urgent healthcare needs.

The governor said establishing a general hospital within the existing facility became necessary to serve residents of Rumuigbo and neighbouring communities more effectively.

Fubara Says Project Reflects People-Centred Governance

Fubara expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project, describing it as another fulfilled promise by his administration.

He added that the hospital project demonstrates the state government’s commitment to prioritising initiatives that directly improve the welfare and well-being of Rivers residents.

The governor stressed that healthcare remains one of the key sectors receiving attention under his administration, especially projects targeted at expanding access to medical services at the grassroots level.

Political observers say the governor’s public reaffirmation of loyalty to the APC comes amid ongoing political realignments and speculation surrounding party affiliations in Rivers State ahead of future political activities.
