Supporters of former Oyo State Deputy Governor, Hazeem Gbolarumi, have reacted to reports suggesting that former Deputy Governor Taofeek Arapaja may be planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the development validates concerns they had raised over his loyalty to the party.

The group argued that the speculation surrounding Arapaja’s alleged defection supports its long-standing position that some leaders within the PDP were more focused on personal political ambitions than strengthening the party.

Although rumours of Arapaja’s possible switch to the APC have continued to dominate political discussions in Oyo State, neither the former deputy governor nor the PDP has officially confirmed the reports.

Reacting in a statement, Gbolarumi’s supporters said recent political developments have justified the reservations they previously expressed about Arapaja’s commitment to the PDP.

They noted that those who had criticised their stance should now recognise that their concerns were not without merit.

According to the group, loyalty to a political party should remain unwavering, adding that the reported move highlights internal challenges that have existed within the PDP for some time.

The supporters maintained that members genuinely committed to the party should focus on preserving its unity and preparing effectively for future elections.

They also reaffirmed their support for Hazeem Gbolarumi, describing him as a loyal party stalwart who has remained steadfast in his commitment to the ideals and progress of the PDP.

Political analysts believe that if Arapaja eventually defects to the APC, the development could reshape political alignments in Oyo State as parties continue to reposition themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle.
