President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has broken his silence on the recent wave of deadly attacks in Plateau and Kaduna States, condemning the perpetrators as “heartless cowards” and vowing decisive action against them.

In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the violence in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, as well as the нападение in Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, as unacceptable assaults on innocent citizens.

The President said the coordinated attacks, which included the killing of residents and the abduction of wedding guests, represent a direct threat to national unity and peace. He warned that such acts are designed not only to inflict harm but also to provoke retaliatory violence and destabilize communities.

According to the statement, Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down those responsible for the killings and bring them to justice. He also called for urgent action against individuals spreading misinformation that could worsen tensions in affected areas.

Describing the attackers’ methods as cowardly, Tinubu stated that anyone who targets defenseless citizens under the cover of darkness lacks humanity and must face the full weight of the law. He emphasized that the government will not allow such acts to go unpunished.

The President also cautioned against narratives suggesting that the attacks were religiously motivated, urging the media to report responsibly and avoid inflaming already sensitive situations.

Reassuring Nigerians, Tinubu affirmed that security agencies are actively responding to the incidents and working to restore calm. He stressed the importance of public cooperation, advising communities to follow evacuation and safety directives issued by authorities.

Tinubu further called on security operatives to become more proactive by acting on early warning intelligence to prevent future attacks. He specifically ordered the immediate rescue of remaining abductees from the Kaduna incident, while noting that two victims had already been safely recovered.

In his remarks, the President commended Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for efforts to manage the situation in Plateau State and Uba Sani for supporting rescue operations in Kaduna.

He also extended condolences to families who lost loved ones and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attacks.

Highlighting long-term measures, Tinubu revealed that the federal government is investing in advanced security equipment aimed at improving real-time tracking and response capabilities. He expressed confidence that these upgrades would enhance the ability of security forces to combat criminal activities more effectively.

As Nigeria grapples with ongoing security challenges, the President’s remarks signal a renewed commitment to strengthening national safety and ensuring accountability for acts of violence.
