Osun State, Nigeria — In a decisive and impactful effort to advance technical education and skill acquisition in Osun State, Hon. Dr  (Wole) Oke has reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to youth empowerment by paying tuition and scholarship fees for over 1,000 students across nine technical colleges in the state.

Fulfilling his pledge to cover both upkeep and scholarship expenses for students of these institutions, Dr Oke’s dedication to making education accessible to financially disadvantaged youths is commendable and transformative.

The payments, made on June 25, 2025, mark a significant milestone in his ongoing mission to eliminate financial barriers that hinder access to quality technical education.

This latest intervention covers tuition fees, enrolment forms, and SIWES fees of 1000 students in diverse disciplines, including Electrical Engineering, Tailoring, Catering, Carpentry and joinery, Fabrication and Welding, Business Studies, and Motor Vehicle Mechanics.

Beneficiaries include Year 1 students at technical colleges located in Osogbo, Ara, Otan, Gbongan, Ile-Ife, Inisa, and Osu, as well as Year 1 to Year 3 students at Ijeda-Ijebu-Jesa Technical College.

Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Wole Oke emphasised the critical role of removing financial obstacles to education:

“This scholarship programme is part of my vision to ensure that every willing student has access to technical education. By prioritising skill acquisition, we are creating job creators rather than job seekers, which is essential to reducing unemployment and alleviating poverty, Oke stated.

This initiative builds on Hon. Oke’s longstanding support for technical education across Osun State. Over the past five years, his scholarship programmes have consistently empowered students with vocational skills, fostering self-reliance and economic independence.

More than just financial aid, this scholarship programme represents a strategic investment in the future of Osun State’s youth—nurturing a generation equipped to build a brighter and more prosperous tomorrow.
