Nigerian music executive and Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, has revealed how repeated rejection from girls during his secondary school years affected him emotionally and psychologically.

According to Don Jazzy, he did not consider himself physically attractive during his younger years, and this led to constant rejection from girls while he was in school.

“I wasn’t good-looking during my secondary school days,” he said. “Thank God for music because back then I was constantly being rejected by girls.”

The Mavin Records boss explained that the repeated rejection left a lasting emotional impact on him, adding that the experience stayed with him even after becoming successful.

In a surprising revelation, Don Jazzy disclosed that after attaining fame and financial success, he intentionally went back to search for many of the girls who had rejected him in school. According to him, the move was part of his effort to overcome the psychological trauma associated with those experiences.

“But after I became successful, I went back to look for all the girls who rejected me,” he revealed. “But almost all of them were already married.”

Meanwhile, the celebrated producer also sparked reactions online after joking about the possibility of finding a wife outside Nigeria.

During a playful exchange with fans on Instagram, a follower described Don Jazzy as “an African treasure” who belongs to the entire continent and not just Nigeria. Responding humorously, the producer said he often feels connected to several African countries, including Ghana, South Africa and Uganda.

“Sometimes, I feel like I’m Ghanaian, sometimes South African. Sometimes I feel like I’m Ugandan, even though I haven’t been to Uganda,” he said.

Don Jazzy further joked that if he does not find a wife in Nigeria, he may consider searching for love in East African countries such as Uganda or Tanzania.

“I heard that the babes there are nice,” he added. “If you are from Uganda and you are a babe, do you girls like me there? Maybe I should come to Uganda since I did not find a wife in Nigeria.”

The comments quickly generated reactions from fans across social media, with many praising the producer’s humour and honesty about his personal life.

Known for his playful online personality and influence in the African entertainment industry, Don Jazzy remains one of Nigeria’s most recognised music executives, having helped launch and manage the careers of several successful artists through Mavin Records.
