Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has warned that he will seek the intervention of United States President Donald Trump if anything goes wrong during the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election. The singer has repeatedly called on relevant authorities to ensure a transparent electoral process and warned against any form of electoral malpractice. His comments come amid heightened political tension ahead of the governorship poll, with Adeleke seeking a second term in a closely watched contest. Davido has also been vocal about his concerns regarding the credibility of elections in Nigeria, insisting that votes should count and that the will of the people must prevail.

Meanwhile, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, has reacted to Davido’s earlier claim that an unnamed politician from Imo State intended to interfere in the Osun election.

Although Davido did not mention anyone by name, Nwaogwugwu dismissed the allegation, saying the singer should direct his appeal to Osun voters rather than the governor. He argued that Uzodimma has consistently supported peaceful and credible elections and that Davido’s family ties to Imo State did not justify linking the governor to the claims.
