Osun State Governor and Accord governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has expressed confidence in securing victory in the August 16, 2026 governorship election, declaring that his re-election bid would be successful.

‎Governor Adeleke made the declaration at the official launching of his re-election campaign in Osogbo.

‎Addressing political leaders, supporters, party members and member of various professional body, Governor Adeleke said he remained focused on retaining power despite what he described as attempts by opposition forces to distract his administration.

‎”We will not be distracted. We remain focused on winning. By God’s grace and the people’s support, continuity shall prevail come August 15th,” the governor stated.

‎Governor Adeleke also welcomed the judgment of the Federal High Court in Osogbo which dismissed an application seeking tenure elongation for the controversial APC local government chairmen, describing the ruling as a victory for constitutional democracy.

‎The Governor argued that the court judgment further confirmed that the tenure of the affected council chairmen had expired and called on security agencies to withdraw support for what he termed the illegal occupation of local government secretariats across the state.

‎On the controversy surrounding the deregistration of Accord and other political parties by a Federal High Court in Abuja, the governor maintained that the judgment would not stand, insisting that legal steps had already been taken to challenge the ruling.

‎According to him, Accord remains a valid political platform and will participate fully in the forthcoming governorship election.

‎”Accord will be on the ballot, we will be on the ballot, and we will win resoundingly on August 15th,”.

‎One of the highlights of the gathering was the formal presentation of the Accord Party flag to Governor Adeleke by the National Chairman of the party.

‎The Accord National Chairman praised Adeleke’s leadership style and urged party supporters across the state to remain united and work towards securing victory at the polls.

‎Receiving the flag, Adeleke assured party members that their confidence would not be misplaced, promising to continue delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Osun State.

‎The governor subsequently called on residents to come out in large numbers for the official flag-off of his campaign, expressing optimism that his administration’s performance would earn him another mandate from the electorate.

‎The campaign rally witnessed a major political boost for the governor as several loyalists of former National Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore men, reportedly defected to Accord and pledged support for Adeleke’s re-election bid.

‎The event also attracted members of various professional associations, artisans’ groups, market leaders, youth organizations, transport unions, and community-based groups, all of whom publicly declared support for the governor’s second-term ambition.

‎Political observers described the turnout and endorsements as a significant development in the build-up to the governorship election.
