According to the commission, investigations revealed that the fraudulent salary payments amounted to ₦942 million, which has since been recovered. The ICPC said the discovery followed ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and integrity in the management of government payroll systems.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to tackling corruption in the public sector and warned that individuals found culpable in the payroll fraud would face appropriate legal action. The development is part of broader government efforts to eliminate ghost workers and curb financial leakages in the federal civil service.
