ABUJA – Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, has approved the immediate redeployment of 10 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to strategic commands, departments and specialised formations across the country in a major restructuring of the Nigeria Police Force.

The redeployment was announced in a police wireless signal issued by the Force Secretariat in Abuja on Monday and marked “Most Immediate” for implementation. The directive, titled “Posting Senior Officers,” was circulated to key police departments, zonal commands, state commands, tactical formations and training institutions nationwide. According to the signal, AIG Polycarp Emeka Nwonyi was posted to Zone 9 Command, Umuahia; AIG Obono Nnaghe Itam became Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos; AIG Bassey Samuel Ewa moved to Zone 15 Command, Maiduguri; AIG Osagie John Agans-Irabor was deployed to Zone 3 Command, Yola; while AIG Monday Agbonika was posted to Zone 5 Command, Benin.
The IGP also redeployed AIG Daniel Edobor Iyamah to the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, AIG Isah Danladi Nda to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Kaduna, AIG Akaniyene Ifebem Ezima to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja, AIG Bello Rashid Afegbua to Zone 6 Command, Calabar, and AIG Betty Enekpen Otimenyin to Zone 8 Command, Lokoja.
The postings take immediate effect, with the Force Headquarters directing relevant departments responsible for personnel records, establishment and computer documentation to update their records accordingly. The wireless message, referenced TH.5361/FS/FHQ/ABJ/SUB. X, was distributed to all major police formations, including the 17 zonal commands, commissioners of police in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, specialised units and police training institutions, for immediate compliance.
