The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence that it will meet the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) July 11 deadline for submitting the names of its presidential, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates for the 2027 general elections.

Party officials disclosed that the process of uploading candidates’ details to the INEC nomination portal is progressing steadily, with the exercise already at an advanced stage.

A senior member of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), who spoke anonymously, said the party had made significant progress in uploading the information of its National Assembly candidates and remained on schedule to complete the process before the deadline.

According to the official, the details of President Bola Tinubu and his running mate are expected to be uploaded before the middle of the week.

“We are progressing smoothly with the uploading of the details of our National Assembly candidates. We hope that on or before next Wednesday, we shall upload the details of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate. We are completely sure of meeting the July 11 deadline for uploading all our candidates on the INEC portal,” the source said.

Sources at the APC’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) department at the Muhammadu Buhari House national secretariat in Abuja confirmed that party officials have continued to interface with the INEC portal without technical challenges.

According to party insiders, the nomination details of several principal officers of the 10th National Assembly, along with many serving federal lawmakers, have already been uploaded.

The sources also disclosed that the profiles of four serving governors—AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State—have been submitted to the commission after securing APC senatorial tickets for the 2027 elections.

The final submission process follows an extensive review of the party’s primary elections after the APC received hundreds of petitions from dissatisfied aspirants challenging the outcomes in various constituencies.

Following the appeal process, the National Working Committee approved amendments to the party’s initial list by replacing six senatorial candidates and 19 House of Representatives candidates across several states, including Abia, Kogi, Taraba, Benue, Ebonyi, Ondo, Kaduna, Niger and Kwara.

The adjustments were based on recommendations made by the APC Primary Election Appeal Committee after reviewing complaints filed by contestants.

The revised candidate list was subsequently forwarded to INEC through a letter jointly signed by APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru.

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka revealed that the party received more than 700 petitions following the conclusion of its primary elections.

“The party received over 700 petitions from aggrieved members following the conclusion of our shadow elections,” Morka stated.

He explained that the appeals were carefully examined, leading to changes in some constituencies, while candidates whose victories were upheld retained their tickets.

Morka added that the party’s immediate focus remains ensuring that all nominated candidates complete and submit their mandatory INEC Form EC9 documentation before the statutory deadline.

“Our absolute immediate priority right now is ensuring that our designated candidates properly complete and return their Form EC9 nomination documents for upload ahead of the strict INEC deadline, rather than focusing on the public release of the list,” he said.

With the deadline approaching, the ruling party has intensified preparations to ensure full compliance with INEC’s timetable as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
