Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially scrapped the Ministry of Higher Education, a government structure that was previously created during the administration of former governor and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The decision was announced as part of a broader restructuring of the Kano State government aimed at streamlining ministries and improving administrative efficiency.

The Ministry of Higher Education had been established by Kwankwaso to specifically oversee universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions in the state. However, under the new arrangement introduced by Governor Yusuf, the responsibilities of the scrapped ministry will be redistributed to other relevant ministries within the state government.

Sources within the Kano State Government indicated that the move is intended to reduce bureaucratic overlaps and strengthen coordination in the management of the education sector.

Governor Yusuf’s administration has been implementing several policy adjustments since taking office, including reforms in education, infrastructure development, and public service management.

Further details regarding where the agencies and institutions previously supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education will now be placed are expected to be announced by the state government.
