Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has said any consideration to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) must be backed by clear assurances on the future of the Kano State government and the welfare of his supporters.

Kwankwaso made the position known on Wednesday at his residence in Kano while addressing leaders and supporters from Rano and Dawakin Tofa local government areas, alongside key members of the Kwankwasiyya movement. He stressed that political decisions must be guided by the collective interest of the people, not personal ambition.

According to the former Kano State governor, the Kwankwasiyya movement represents millions of followers whose political future cannot be traded lightly. He warned that any alliance or defection that fails to protect their mandate, influence and contributions to Kano’s development would be unacceptable.

Kwankwaso further noted that Kano remains politically strategic and that its government must not be weakened or undermined by any political arrangement at the national level. He said respect for the will of the people and existing political structures in the state is non-negotiable.

His comments come amid growing speculation over possible realignments ahead of future elections, with both the APC and other major parties reportedly seeking alliances with influential political blocs across the country.
