IKEJA, Nigeria — The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday intervened in a land dispute between the Lagos State University of Science and Technology and indigenes of the Ikorodu area, adopting a resolution to address competing claims over part of the institution’s property on Monday. Lawmakers unanimously approved recommendations presented by the House Committee on Rules and Business.
The resolution followed consideration of a petition titled “Notification of Decision to Carve Out Land for Regularizations from Lagos State University of Science and Technology Property Situated in Ikorodu.”

Presenting the committee’s report, Majority Leader and Committee Chairman Noheem Adams outlined findings that recognized the descendants of Segun Eyingbala as the original customary owners of the disputed land, which had previously been acquired by the state government in overriding public interest.
As part of its recommendations, the House mandated the state government to allocate 50 hectares of land in a suitable and accessible location within Ikorodu to the affected descendants as compensation. Members commended the committee’s diligence and adopted the recommendations as the official resolution of the House.
In a separate development, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa announced the confirmation of Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu as General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority, citing Section 92 of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018. The nomination, earlier stepped down in January 2026 for further legislative review, was approved through a voice vote after lawmakers expressed satisfaction with her credentials. The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House, Olalekan Onafeko, to communicate the resolution to the appropriate authorities.
