The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Osun State, Olajide Esan, has called on youths in the state to reject established political parties and take charge of their future ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Addressing youth in Osogbo, Esan urged them to disengage from what he described as a cycle of failed leadership.
The AAC candidate specifically advised youths not to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Accord Party, or the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alleging that the parties represent “the same establishment” with no new solutions to the state’s challenges.

“Are you not tired of being used as political tools and subjected to a system that keeps you disadvantaged while a few individuals continue to dominate power?” Esan asked.

He criticised what he termed “recycled leadership” and accused mainstream parties of perpetuating poor governance, infrastructural deficits, and youth marginalisation.
According to him, true leadership should be based on competence, innovation, and a commitment to improving the welfare of citizens, rather than what he described as “experience rooted in corruption and elite capture.”
Esan further urged young people in the state to resist inducement during elections and instead prioritise long-term development over short-term gains.
“The power lies in your hands. Stop recycling failure and support leadership that is focused on building capacity, unlocking potential, and restoring dignity,” he said.
The AAC candidate also called for a departure from the current political structure, which he described as “subjugating,” stressing the need for a new governance approach that prioritises transparency and inclusiveness.
His remarks have generated mixed reactions across Osun State, with some youths expressing support for his message, describing it as timely.
