The Osun State Police Command has announced new dates for the final campaign rallies of the Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election. In a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the command said the Accord Party will hold its grand finale rally on Wednesday, August 12, at Fakunle, while the APC will stage its final campaign on Thursday, August 13, at Freedom Park in Osogbo.

The police said the agreement was reached during a peace meeting convened by the Commissioner of Police (Elections), CP Samuel Erale Etaifo, following concerns over a clash in the proposed dates and venues for the two parties’ rallies.

According to the command, the meeting was part of proactive measures to prevent violence, maintain public order and ensure a peaceful atmosphere before the governorship poll.

The discussions ended with both parties agreeing to separate their rallies to avoid possible confrontation between supporters.

CP Etaifo commended the leadership of both parties for embracing dialogue and demonstrating commitment to peaceful democratic engagement.

He urged all political parties, candidates and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the campaigns, warning that anyone involved in violence, intimidation, thuggery, incitement or any act capable of disrupting public peace would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
