Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of deliberately attempting to evade compliance with a valid court order, insisting that the agency was duly served despite its refusal to acknowledge the documents.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Malami said the EFCC’s claim that it was not properly served was misleading and aimed at frustrating the course of justice. He maintained that all legal procedures were followed in effecting service, adding that refusal to accept court documents does not invalidate service under Nigerian law.

According to Malami, court officials made genuine attempts to serve the order at the EFCC’s designated office, but officials of the anti-graft agency allegedly declined to receive the documents. He stressed that such actions amount to contempt and undermine the rule of law.
The former Attorney-General further accused the EFCC of selective adherence to legal processes, warning that no institution is above the law. He urged the agency to respect judicial authority and allow due process to prevail rather than resorting to procedural evasions.
Meanwhile, the EFCC has yet to issue an official response to Malami’s latest claims. The development adds another layer to the ongoing legal and political tensions surrounding the matter, as observers await the next move from both parties.
