The Ogun State police command has verified that suspected thugs attacked Yusuf Abubakar in the state’s Isara Remo neighborhood.
According to reports, the victim—a plastic collector—lost his left wrist in the incident.
The incident took place in the community’s Sapaade area, according to a statement from the command’s spokeswoman, Omolola Odutola, that the Newsworld was able to receive on Thursday.
According to Odutola, the victim and two of his coworkers had come to the neighborhood to pick up discarded plastic when they were pursued by a gang of thugs, roughly twenty in number, brandishing weapons. They fled when they saw them, but Abubakar collapsed to the ground and was taken prisoner. According to Odutola, who quoted the victim, he was blindfolded, had his left wrist amputated, and was carried into a nearby bush with his hand tied.
Abubakar claims that he landed in Ogun State three days ago, according to Odutola. He and two other people went in the Sapade region at around 8:00 AM on January 6, 2925, to pick up used plastic water bottles when roughly 20 armed thugs with hazardous weapons started chasing them.He claimed that the thugs blindfolded him, bound his wrists and legs, and pulled him into a bush close by. Before leaving him, they brutally cut off his left wrist.
“Abubakar managed to receive treatment at a hospital before reporting the incident to our division in the area.”
Upon the information, she noted that the Divisional Crime Branch team and Crime Officer visited the scene but found no trace of human activity.
She however assured that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the incident surrounding the attack and urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to security apparatus.
