ABUJA, Nigeria — The National Assembly has postponed the resumption of plenary from Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, to Thursday, March 5, 2026, according to a statement issued by Clerk to the National Assembly Kamoru Ogunlana, Feb. 23, 2026. The shift is to allow committees to conclude ongoing budget defense sessions on the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
ABUJA, Nigeria — The National Assembly has postponed the resumption of plenary from Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, to Thursday, March 5, 2026, according to a statement issued by Clerk to the National Assembly Kamoru Ogunlana, Feb. 23, 2026. The shift is to allow committees to conclude ongoing budget defense sessions on the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
Ogunlana said the postponement was necessary to enable lawmakers complete consideration of the budget.
“This is to inform Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members of the National Assembly that the resumption of plenary session earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 24th February 2026, has been postponed,” the statement read.

“This postponement is to enable committees of the Assembly to conclude ongoing budget defence sessions.”
According to the statement, plenary will now reconvene in both chambers at 11 a.m. March 5.
“Plenary will now reconvene in both chambers on Thursday, 5th March 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members are kindly requested to take note of the new resumption date and time,” it added.
The postponement comes as several committees continue engaging ministries, departments and agencies in defense of their proposed allocations under the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives are expected to resume legislative proceedings on the new date. The leadership expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the adjustment and urged members to note the revised schedule.
