The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has rejected the Osun State Government’s decision to suspend the union’s operations across the state, insisting that Governor Ademola Adeleke lacks the constitutional authority to take such action.

MC Oluomo made the declaration while reacting to Governor Adeleke’s directive ordering the immediate suspension of all NURTW activities in motor parks across Osun State. The governor had announced the suspension on Thursday as part of measures aimed at maintaining law and order.

According to the NURTW national president, the union is a legally registered national organisation whose activities cannot be suspended by a state governor. He argued that no governor has the constitutional power to shut down the operations of the union, maintaining that any action affecting the NURTW must be carried out in accordance with the law.

The development sets the stage for a fresh dispute between the Osun State Government and the transport union over the control and operation of motor parks in the state, as stakeholders await the government’s response to MC Oluomo’s position.
