The fintech company disclosed the targets during a Media Parley in Lagos, where its executives outlined plans to deepen investment in technology, cybersecurity, payment infrastructure and financial inclusion. The company said its strategy is designed to widen access to reliable digital financial services for individuals, businesses and communities.
Speaking at the event, OPay Chief Commercial Officer, Elizabeth Wang, said technology would remain at the heart of the company’s expansion plans.

“The company’s long-term ambition is to serve one billion users, support ten million merchants and create one million jobs,” Wang said.
She noted that OPay’s continued investment in technology and infrastructure has been critical to ensuring secure and dependable digital transactions.
“People may only see a successful transfer or payment notification, but behind that moment are years of investment in technology, infrastructure and innovation. Our goal is to make digital finance so dependable that customers can move money confidently without ever needing to think about the technology making it possible,” she stated.
According to the company, it has continued to strengthen its digital ecosystem through investments in payment infrastructure, transaction processing systems, cybersecurity solutions and merchant services to enhance customer experience and transaction reliability.
Beyond its core financial services, OPay announced the expansion of its 10-year scholarship programme to ₦1.2 billion, a move that also incorporates the National Innovation Challenge as part of its efforts to promote education, innovation and human capital development.
While outlining its long-term vision, the fintech company did not specify a timeline for achieving its target of one billion users.
The announcement underscores OPay’s commitment to expanding financial inclusion and strengthening Nigeria’s digital economy through sustained investment in technology, innovation and social development initiatives.
