The Chairman of the Imole Campaign Council, Hon. Bamidele Salam, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State of deliberately attempting to create political unrest ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Speaking amid rising political tensions in the state, Salam alleged that the opposition party’s objective is to portray Osun as a state incapable of conducting its affairs peacefully and democratically.

According to him, the alleged strategy is intended to damage the state’s image before Nigerians and the international community as preparations intensify for the governorship poll.

“The plan of the APC in Osun State is to cause chaos. Their plan is to make the state appear to the rest of the world as being unable to conduct itself in a civil manner,” Salam stated.

The remarks come amid heightened political exchanges between the ruling party and the opposition over recent incidents of violence and insecurity in parts of Osun State, with both sides trading accusations over responsibility for the disturbances.

The APC has recently accused the state government of failing to curb political violence, while the Imole Campaign Council insists the opposition is attempting to create a false narrative capable of undermining public confidence in the electoral process.

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the governorship election, stakeholders have continued to urge party supporters to embrace peaceful campaigns and allow security agencies to investigate reported incidents of violence.
