The spokesperson to Ademola Adeleke, Olawale Rasheed, has denied claims that the governor rejected invitations from President Bola Tinubu.

Rasheed, in a statement issued on Thursday, alleged that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, alongside the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, prevented Adeleke from having further meetings with the President.

The statement was a reaction to comments made by Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, who had claimed in an interview that Governor Adeleke ignored several invitations from Tinubu in 2025.

Rasheed dismissed the allegation as “a failed, weak attempt to rewrite history that is still very fresh in the minds of Nigerians and Osun people.”

According to him, Governor Adeleke honoured the President’s invitation and even met Tinubu alongside members of his family before the process was allegedly disrupted.

“Governor Adeleke responded to the invitation of Mr President. He actually met the President with his family members. But the process was truncated by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola. The public is fully aware of the development. Senator Fadahunsi cannot twist or falsify history,” Rasheed said.

He further stated that despite the alleged political obstacles, Adeleke continued to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“After he was blocked, the governor moved ahead to endorse the re-election of Mr President first while he was in PDP and now that he is in the Accord. Governor Adeleke only recently listed cogent reasons why he endorsed Mr President,” he added.

Rasheed also dismissed other criticisms directed at the governor, insisting that Adeleke continued to enjoy broad support across Osun State because of what he described as the administration’s developmental achievements.

“The governor is daily receiving endorsement of multiple sectors of Osun society. From all corners of Osun State, residents and indigenes appreciate the extraordinary performance of Mr Governor,” he stated.

He concluded by expressing confidence in Adeleke’s political standing ahead of the August 15 election, saying no amount of “historical falsification” could alter public perception of the governor.
