The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has strongly dismissed a viral video allegedly portraying Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi as expressing doubts about the party’s chances of unseating Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Officials of the party described the footage as misleading and accused political opponents of deliberately distorting Ogunbiyi’s remarks to create confusion among party members and the public.

In a statement released in Osogbo, the state capital, APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi alleged that the controversial clip was circulated by members of the Accord Party. He claimed the individuals behind its spread were attempting to manipulate public perception ahead of future political contests.

According to Olabisi, the content of the video does not accurately reflect the full context of Ogunbiyi’s speech during the meeting where the remarks were made. He argued that selective editing and misrepresentation were used to present a false narrative.

The APC reaffirmed its confidence in Ogunbiyi, describing him as a loyal and dependable leader within the party. The statement emphasized that his contributions to party development and electoral strategy have remained consistent and impactful.

Party leaders insisted that Ogunbiyi’s track record demonstrates unwavering dedication to the APC’s mission in Osun State. They noted that he has actively supported initiatives aimed at strengthening party unity and improving its chances in upcoming elections.

Olabisi further criticized those spreading the video, calling them “failed political entities” seeking relevance through misinformation. He suggested that the motive behind the video’s circulation was to weaken internal cohesion within the APC and distract from its political agenda.

The statement also questioned why the viral clip excluded portions of Ogunbiyi’s speech where he reportedly reaffirmed his commitment to the party. According to the APC, these omitted sections clearly showed his support for collective efforts to reclaim political leadership in the state.

Observers note that political tensions in Osun have remained high following recent electoral developments, making such controversies particularly sensitive. Analysts suggest that digital media manipulation is increasingly being used as a tool in Nigeria’s political landscape to influence public opinion.

The APC urged its members and supporters not to be swayed by what it described as a “distorted narrative.” It reiterated that Ogunbiyi remains firmly aligned with the party’s objectives and continues to play a vital role in its strategic planning.

Furthermore, the party called on the general public to critically assess information circulating on social media platforms. It stressed the importance of verifying sources before drawing conclusions, especially in politically charged situations.

As the next governorship election approaches, the APC signaled its determination to remain focused on strengthening its base and presenting a united front. The leadership expressed confidence that attempts to create internal divisions would ultimately fail.

The development highlights ongoing challenges political parties face in managing public perception in the digital age, where brief video clips can quickly shape narratives. For the APC in Osun State, maintaining unity and trust among members appears to be a top priority as preparations for future elections intensify.
