The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam, says his government will prioritise agriculture, employment, infrastructure and security if elected governor.
Dr. Salaam made the promises while featuring on “Ijoba Awarawa,” a programme on Radio Nigeria’s Ogo-Ilu FM, Oko, where he also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the conduct of a free, fair and credible governorship election in the state.
According to him, democracy can only thrive when the votes of the electorate truly count, urging the electoral umpire to provide a level playing field for all political parties and candidates during the forthcoming poll.
Speaking on his development plans for the state, the ADC candidate said agriculture would form the backbone of his administration’s economic agenda.

He explained that his government would invest heavily in agricultural production with the aim of making Osun State a major supplier of food and agricultural produce across Nigeria.
Salaam also pledged to tackle unemployment by creating massive job opportunities, disclosing that no fewer than 20,000 workers would be employed within his first 100 days in office.
In the area of infrastructure, he promised to construct at least 10 kilometres of roads in each local government area of the state as part of his administration’s plan to improve basic amenities and enhance socio-economic development.
The ADC standard bearer further assured residents that his government would prioritise the security of lives and property, noting that a peaceful and secure environment remained essential for growth and investment.
He added that his administration would operate an open-door policy aimed at deepening democratic governance and ensuring inclusiveness in decision-making.
Dr. Salaam also commended the administration of former governor Rauf Aregbesola for what he described as achievements in the areas of security, education and employment during his tenure.
The governorship hopeful urged residents of Osun State to come out en masse during the election and freely vote for candidates of their choice without intimidation or coercion.
