— development only thrives in a peaceful environment.
As local government activities resume across Osun State on January 5, Newsworld Media has called on all political actors, workers, and stakeholders to embrace peace and restraint in the interest of stability and development.
Following the announcement of resumption by the NULGE President, Comrade Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, tensions have increased with claims and counter-claims from APC-led ALGON and PDP-led ALGON.
President Tinubu Affirms January 1, 2026, Commencement Of Major Tax Reforms.
In its message, Newsworld Media appealed to political leaders, party supporters, and residents across Osun State to place peace above politics.
Chairmen of local governments elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should both call on their supporters to maintain calm and avoid actions capable of escalating tension.
“Local governance should remain people-centered, focused on service delivery, grassroots development, and unity beyond party lines”.
It is imperative to the Chairman of both ALGON in the state, to urged all chairmen and councillors to act responsibly and uphold the rule of law.
ALGON should understand that peaceful coexistence among political leaders is crucial for restoring confidence in local government administration and ensuring effective service to the people.
Similarly, the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) called on its members to return to work peacefully and maintain professionalism.
The union reiterated its commitment to dialogue, industrial harmony, and the protection of workers’ rights, while warning against any action that could threaten public peace.
Newsworld pointed out that only through unity, mutual respect, and cooperation can the resumption of local government activities on January 5 usher in stability, progress, and sustainable development at the grassroots level.
It will be recalled that council administrations across the state have been disrupted for ten (10) months after the APC-led ALGON group took over local government secretariats forcing the local government workers to stay off work.
