The Presidency has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over protests that followed the distribution of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination forms to All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly candidates in Ondo State.

According to sources familiar with the matter, security agencies have been directed to investigate the organisers and alleged sponsors of the demonstrations, which drew attention after videos circulated on social media.

Sources said the Presidency was particularly concerned by reports that the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Seun Osamaye, and the APC State Women Leader, Iji-Ayeola, were allegedly seen in viral videos leading demonstrators who criticised President Bola Tinubu and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

The reported protest has generated political attention because it occurred in an APC-governed state led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is widely regarded as an ally of the President.

According to insiders, the Presidency viewed the incident as unexpected and disappointing, especially considering the perceived political support Governor Aiyedatiwa has received from the party’s national leadership.

One source claimed the development was seen as unusual because Ondo was reportedly the only state where protests emerged following the release of the party’s nomination forms.

The source further alleged that while supporters were demonstrating in Akure, efforts were simultaneously being made in Abuja to secure a meeting with President Tinubu through APC elders, including former Interim National Chairman Bisi Akande and party chieftain Pius Akinyelure.

According to the source, the requested meeting did not materialise after the party elders reportedly declined to facilitate it.

Amid the controversy, the Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, rejected claims that Commissioner for Women Affairs Seun Osamaye participated in the protest.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Ajanaku maintained that the allegations against Osamaye were untrue and dismissed suggestions that she played any role in organising or leading the demonstration.

As of the time of reporting, neither the Presidency nor the relevant security agencies had issued an official public statement confirming the reported investigation.

The development comes amid heightened political activities within the APC as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections, with internal disagreements over candidate selection and nomination processes continuing to attract public attention.
